TAST Week 11

Here are my two samples for the new Take a Stitch Tuesday challenge. This week stitch is "up and down buttonhole", a very fun stitch.

TAST Week 10

Do you know a stitch called "barred chain stitch"?... Until last week, I didn't. But now I do... I knew the chain stitch, of course, and I also knew the twisted chain stitch. Barred chain stitch is simply a combination of both. And it was the TAST challenge of last Tuesday.
So, I did two samples. In the first one, I just tried the stitch out. I don't know why, but the stitch wanted to be worked into curves. In the next one, I stacked the rows of stitches as Sharon suggested on her blog.

This is my sample for the TAST challenge of this week. It's the Algerian eye stitch.
I would like to try another sample using hessian fabric and knitting yarn.

This week, the TAST challenge is the chevron stitch. It's funny, but I think I had never used it before. So, yesterday, I made three postcards using only this stitch. There were some ghosts wandering on my last piece of fabric. I let one of them come forward.

I turned my TAST samples into postcards. A few of them will go in the mail tomorrow for a swap.

Some more lazy daisy stitches for the Take a Stitch Tuesday challenge.

The next picture is a sample I did for my OCA Textiles course... I used lazy daisy stitches, French knots and cross stitches. I think that between these three stitches, French knot is my favourite.

This week, detached chain stitch, also called lazy daisy stitch, is the one to study for the Take a Stitch Tuesday challenge. I quickly did a sample the size of a postcard.

Tonight or tomorrow, I'll try using thicker threads, maybe on a coarser fabric.

This is my finished buttonhole sample for the Take a Stitch Tuesday challenge of this week. I'm going to make a postcard out of it.

TAST - Buttonhole stitch

This week at Take a Stitch Tuesday, the challenge is to explore the buttonhole stitch. This is a detail of a sample I did when I was studying with the Open College of the Arts. It was inspired by the work of Jan Beaney who is one of the masters of free surface stitchery.
Today, I worked on a postcard. I used variegated cotton thread by Caron. Now, I'm going to add more stitches to it, but with thinner threads. Maybe I'll do some beading too.

TAST again

I made 2 more samples using herringbone stitch... The first one is more or less ok, I think.
I don't like the second one. It was based on this sketch:
I'm not very much inspired today, and I'm a little sick... I think I'm gonna throw these two samples in my "recycling" box. Maybe, I'll use them for my paper-fabric experiments.
Now, I'm gonna make myself a cup of coffee, and skim through some of my new books.

This is my first entry for the Take a Stitch Tuesday challenge. This week, it's Herringbone Stitch.
OK, I'm cheating... I did this a long time ago. But this is to remind me that I have to try to make another sample before next week!
