and finally, taking pictures...
I think I'm done with this one now.
A few weeks ago, I was sitting beside an estuary in Wales on a nice and quiet evening. The tide was out and there was an almost perfect symmetry between the far away mountain and the shape of the foreground rock. I did a quick little sketch because I knew I had to make a quilt out of this.
I've had a hard time photographing this quilt. The colours seem to be changing all the time.
And, of course, today is the reveal of the Spice Colourplay challenge on the Twelve by Twelve blog.
Tomorrow, I'm going to start sewing.

The theme, picked by Brenda, was "Illumination". I chose to work on the buddhist meaning of this word. The background fabric was shibori-dyed.

On the quilting front, my new 12x12 piece is going rather well. I'm done with the machine quilting (I think), now I want to add hand stitching. But first, I'm going to take a little break and let my ideas simmer for a few days...
I made seven purple postcards. They're all gone in the mail.
Except this last one that I kept for me...
Now, I'm working on another postcard swap, and also on my new 12x12 quilt.

This week, I've been working on postcards for a swap. They'll be finished tonight. Then, I want to scan them, because I couldn't find the time to make extra cards for me. The colours are much nicer in real, but I had to use the flash. It's been so dark here today...

I made a series using my hand-dyed and monoprinted fabrics.
My piece for the January Take it Further challenge is finished. I just added a little hand stitching to the layered image. It didn't ask for more, I think.
Yesterday, I finally emerged from my holiday break (or should I say lethargy?), and I made this little experimental piece. I used synthetic felt and organza, machine stitched through all layers, cut a few patches out, and added some hand stitches. I think I'm going to make a postcard with this.

This is a set of postcards I made for a swap. We had to interpret a picture of a purple clematis. The picture was taken by one of the members of the group. I used some of my hand-dyed fabrics in the colours of the flower. The stitched white star represents the heart of the flower.

At last, I found the time to finish my autumn bark postcards. I just have to snip all these little threads off, and the cards will be ready to go to their recipients.
These are my two dandelions quilts. Both are done with hand-dyed fabrics. I used this picture as inspiration for the embroidery of the first one...

I simplified the design a little, drew and painted it on a yellow dyed fabric, then I added the machine stitching.
