A nice afternoon

I spent a couple of hours yesterday afternoon working on my greeting cards.
I'm almost done with the fabric cards but I still want to make some paper ones. It's not too late, but I'd better hurry if I want to send them before Christmas.
While working on my fabric cards, I unearthed this little doll I made a few weeks ago.
It's just a small prototype and it was lying under a pile of Colorplay fabrics. Now it's smiling at me while I'm sitting at my desk.
And next is one of my candidate quilts for metamorphosis...
It's hanging on my design wall right now. And I'm just wondering... Shall I cut it up? Yes? No?...

In other news, I'm starting to think about the "Spice" colour scheme for my next Twelve by Twelve quilt. Here are the fabrics I have selected so far...

I've got an idea. I did a little sketch. It doesn't have anything to do with spice. But why not? As long as I use the given colours, I'm ok, right?
J'ai une idée, j'ai fait un petit croquis . Cela n'a rien à voir avec les épices, mais tant que j'utilise la palette imposée, pas de problème!

I'm quilting

I started quilting "Chartreuse One" this morning...
Not sure there will be a "Chartreuse Two" after all...
Today, I also quickly put together a rosebud postcard as a surprise gift for a friend.
I don't think she reads my blog.
In any case, as it's a surprise, she can't guess it's for her. ;-)

Snow, and a postcard

The other day, it was so windy that the snow was piling up against the window. I tried taking pictures of this, but actually the drops above the snow gave nicer images than the snow itself.
I can't wait to play with this picture...
As it snowed most of the week-end, I bravely stayed inside and worked on the 12x12 book. I also made this fiber postcard with leftovers from my pink quilt.
I've got a few more rosebud prints left, so there might be other postcards in the next days...
I had almost forgotten how nice and relaxing it is to sew these little postcards.

Back again

Yes, I'm still alive...
I even had a few Autumn pictures ready, but I simply forgot to post them before going to the exhibition of our national patchwork guild...
Ten days ago, it felt like Autumn.
But today, it's Halloween, and it's very cold already.
Back to some fiber content now...
I finished the postcards for the swap. Good thing, because they had to be in the mail by today.
And the top of the baby quilt is finished too. I'm going to quilt it by hand, I think.
Next week, I'll be able to start working on my 12x12 piece, and, hopefully, continue with the C&G course.

Update

The postcards for the swap are ready to be embellished. Here's a little peek at one of them.
I still have plenty of time before the deadline, so I'm going to do some hand stitching.
As for the little quilt, all the blocks are sewn. Now, I need to rearrange them a bit until I'm pleased with the layout...

On the quilting front, my new 12x12 piece is going rather well. I'm done with the machine quilting (I think), now I want to add hand stitching. But first, I'm going to take a little break and let my ideas simmer for a few days...

I made seven purple postcards. They're all gone in the mail.
Except this last one that I kept for me...
Now, I'm working on another postcard swap, and also on my new 12x12 quilt.
The theme is "illumination". I finished the top yesterday night.

This week, I've been working on postcards for a swap. They'll be finished tonight. Then, I want to scan them, because I couldn't find the time to make extra cards for me. The colours are much nicer in real, but I had to use the flash. It's been so dark here today...

Postcards and ATCs

I made a whole batch of postcards out of homedyed fabric scraps. But I still have so many of these scraps that I think I'm going to make a small quilt too.
I also made a few ATCs. For those, I took my needlefelting machine out, and played a bit. I had almost forgotten how fun it is...

An award and a few postcards

Last week, I received the "You make my day" award from Shirley and from Beate. Thank you my friends! There are lots of blogs I would pass this award to, but all of them have already received it at least once!

I've been busy making little houses postcards for a swap.
I first did this one, with a paper-piecing technique. It is based of a drawing of our house made some 18 years ago by our eldest son. I like the postcard, but it really took me too much time to do...
So I opted for a simpler design, and used bonded appliqué. Much quicker! All fabrics are homedyed.
And here is one more postcard that I made this morning for a friend...

A postcard, maybe

Yesterday, I finally emerged from my holiday break (or should I say lethargy?), and I made this little experimental piece. I used synthetic felt and organza, machine stitched through all layers, cut a few patches out, and added some hand stitches. I think I'm going to make a postcard with this.

Postcards

This is a set of postcards I made for a swap. We had to interpret a picture of a purple clematis. The picture was taken by one of the members of the group. I used some of my hand-dyed fabrics in the colours of the flower. The stitched white star represents the heart of the flower.

A foretaste of Christmas

Yesterday, I made my first Christmas fabric postcards of the season...Ok, it's a bit early, I know,... but in our shops, Christmas is already competing with Saint Nicolas... This morning, I bought a "cougnou". It's a typical Christmas bread here. If you google it, you'll find lots of recipes... in French...
I think I'm slowly coming out of my lethargic mode... Yesterday also, I did some discharge experiments on black and on navy.
