These are two detail pictures of a rust dyed piece. I used an old rusted tool for this one. It's very different from the pieces I did with the steel wool pad. This piece has a few nice spots. Some interesting shapes appeared. Now the question is... What will I do with these rusted fabrics?... Cut them up, and use them in a quilt? I don't know yet...
And if you want to know more about rust dyeing, you should definetely visit this website.

The worst part of doing such a wonderful hand-dye is that it's nearly impossible to cut into them. I have a pile of them but no rust dyes yet.
You ended up with some eally interesting shapes there. Of course, you could make fabulous postcards with these... But what do the fabrics say to you? They'd probably make nice backgrounds for your embroidery. How about a small wall hanging with interesting details to draw you in?
These look really good Francoise. Have finally started my own rust dyeing! Thanks for the link too.
You really did get some interesting shapes in these. If you figure out what you are going to do with your rusty fabric, let me know, as I'm trying to come up with ideas too.

I'm still debating what to do with most of my rust dyes.
These look great.
These are lovely Francois. I can see lots of things in these.
These have turned out really good. I like all the shapes in them.
Hugs, Alis
These look great Francoise!
Oh, these have turned out wonderfully. I especially like the second piece. I did some rust dying at the weekend and will be posting pictures later today :)
I did some rust dying. I tryed to quilt some of it. Every time I stitched the rusty parts my thread broke. I think the iron will rot the fabric eventually too, so I wouldn't recommend using it in anything other than an art piece. I do like the look of it, color & texture both are interesting.
