It's raining...

It's pouring like hell, and the dog wants to be outside...
At the same time, it's very sunny inside... I'm listening to the new Cat Stevens' cd while cutting and pinning. And here is what's on my design board...

I'm beginning to see where I'm going to with my new 12x12 quilt...
Next is the quilt I almost hated the other day. I don't like it very much yet, but I've sponged some dark turquoise paint in a few spots and it's getting better.

Now, it's ready to be quilted.
Yes, it's my foot there on the table... ;-)

Passion and colours...

This is how far I've got with my 12x12 "passion" quilt...
A picture taken in my garden and some home-dyed fabrics, and then several ideas in my head.
I think I'm going to sleep on it...

Strawberries, quilts, and a baby

Here's what I did this afternoon...
Except for this, I spent most of this week working on small quilts I want to finish before the end of the month. Here are a few peek shots...
This one is almost finished, and I'm rather pleased with it.

The next one is ready to be quilted. I like it, but I don't know yet how to stitch it. The quilting has to be simple, I think.
And then, this one... At the moment, I almost hate it! I might quilt it by machine and then throw it in a dyepot, or overpaint it. I've always wanted to try something like this but never dared up to now...

And yesterday, I took a break in my sewing because I had to take care of this little angel. She's almost two months old now.
She was very good. In the morning, we had a stroll in the neighbourhood and afternoon, she took a nice little nap despite the very hot weather.

A few pictures from my garden, and a message to Kat

Do you know the name of this strange insect? It's the first time I see one like this. It was about an inch long.
Kat, I can't answer you because you didn't leave me your address. You can email me directly if you like.

Dyed fabrics in the garden

Here are the results of my last week dyeing sessions. The blue and the green are not that greyish in real life.
I took lots of pictures in my garden last week. They inspired some of the colours I tried to achieve in fabric.
I think these are my favourite dyed pieces of the whole lot...And, at last, this baby is almost finished... I'm going to sew the binding today.

Fabric, quilts and tomatoes

I've been busy with all kinds of administrative and boring stuff for too many days, but today I managed to squeeze in a little dyeing session.
I need some fabric for my new 12x12 quilt, and also for another project.
I have not been completely unproductive. Here are three quilts in progress, the first one is almost finished, the second one is waiting to be quilted, and the third one has to be sandwiched and basted.

Here's a detail of the first little quilt. I want to add some hand embroidery before sewing the binding.
And, I'm wondering...  are we going to have some baby tomatoes finally? What do you think?

A new scrap quilt and some bookmarks

I played some more with my small fabric scraps and I quickly pieced this little top...
It's about 40cm by 40cm (16"x16"). I'll probably quilt it by machine.
Now I have to think about three other small quilts for an exhibition in autumn. I want the tops to be finished before school summer break.
Some time ago, I signed up for a bookmark swap, and this is what I did...
I used printed fabric for the front and hand-dyed fabric for the back (I'm afraid I forgot to photograph the back...). Here's a close-up...
