After reading Maggie Grey's blog the other day, I decided to have a little playtime with PSP and the displacement effect.... The starting point is a picture of a lavatera I took in my garden a few years ago. And the background I used is one I designed for the creative computing course I'm taking at DesignMatters, with Marie Roper.
MargaretR has posted a very good tutorial about computer design here. But beware... this kind of play can become quite addictive...

Thanks for the link. I'm struggling with Paintshop Pro right now. Had no idea what the maps feature was all about and was afraid to click on it! Will have to try this.
