Kyoto, day 2, afternoon

In the afternoon, we visited beautiful Daitoku-ji temple...
There are actually more than 20 sub-temples here...
Bamboo, moss, rocks, sand and gravel zen gardens... If you are interested in Zen philosophy, this is the place to go.

Afterwards, we visited the Orinus museum where we saw gorgeous handmade textiles, kimonos, obis and Noh costumes...
Then, our friends drove us to their place to spend the evening together. We had a great time (and great food).
Much too early, it was time to go back to Kyoto... by train...
Here, I am taking a quick lesson about how to buy a train ticket at a machine...

... OK, that was easy... But now, which way do we have to go?...
We made it to the ryokan just in the time before the curfew! As you can see, most of the guests were already back before us...

At least if you know whether to go East or West i suppose you're part way there.
The temple and gardens look wonderfully serene.
