At last!

Yesterday was nice and sunny. We spent the day at the seaside. There was not much wind, and DH didn't really need my help. I was rather lazy during most of our sailing outing,... just reading, falling asleep from time to time, and taking a few pictures, ...
Today it's the big reveal on the 12x12 blog. Our new theme, chosen by Kristin, was "community". This is my quilt...It is a very simplified view of my neighbourhood. Nice little houses with small gardens... A lovely, quiet and friendly neighbourhood. But as our children are growing, the links between our families seem nevertheless to be fading. I sometimes see each house as a kind of spiral centering on itself. I still like very much the place where I live, but I'm a bit nostalgic of the good old time when the kids were all playing together in the street.

I made another quilt on the same idea, using a carved eraser for stamping the house shapes. The red fabric is a lovely present I got from Marion Barnett. The photo doesn't do justice to her fabric.
