At last!

Yesterday was nice and sunny. We spent the day at the seaside. There was not much wind, and DH didn't really need my help. I was rather lazy during most of our sailing outing,... just reading, falling asleep from time to time, and taking a few pictures, ...
Today it's the big reveal on the 12x12 blog. Our new theme, chosen by Kristin, was "community". This is my quilt...It is a very simplified view of my neighbourhood. Nice little houses with small gardens... A lovely, quiet and friendly neighbourhood. But as our children are growing, the links between our families seem nevertheless to be fading. I sometimes see each house as a kind of spiral centering on itself. I still like very much the place where I live, but I'm a bit nostalgic of the good old time when the kids were all playing together in the street.
Here is a detail shot...

I made another quilt on the same idea, using a carved eraser for stamping the house shapes. The red fabric is a lovely present I got from Marion Barnett. The photo doesn't do justice to her fabric.
Here's a closer look...
The first quilt is by far my favourite.
Don't forget to visit the 12x12 blog to see the quilts made by the other members of the group.

Wonderful theme and wonderful quilts. My favourite is the second, which was your first. The fabric is stunning and it’s a real community, a kind of a neighbourhood. The quilting makes the community look protected, love it!

I like both quilts. The spiral shaped like houses is a wonderful idea.

I love these both francoise and also the idea behind them with each house having it's own spiral.
