Leaf prints, last episode

Here's the top of my little leaf quilt. I am going to quilt it very simply by machine.
First I made a top with more squares:
I glued the squares with temporary spray glue, and I thought it needed some ironing. Then, disaster... After ironing, ugly spots appeared on some of the squares!!
I don't know if it's because the glue was too old, or anything else. I didn't use it much before, but I never had any problem with it...
After thinking of throwing everything away, I took a deep breath and I was able to rescue nine squares and make a new top with them... I cannot resist posting another blue detail...

I think I like the way it looks better with just the 9 blocks. Can the other squares be washed to remove the spots, or maybe you could spatter them with paint, so they look like the spots are all part of the design, & make another small wall hanging with the spattered ones. The late Bob Ross would call something like that a "Happy accident".

I wondered the same as deb H could they be washed? Let us know please if you do wash them- if it works. You never know when we may need to use your knowledge? I really like the 9 block too. well drescued. well done.
